Why the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible forest management. FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits. By joining FSC, The Happy Start is committing to sourcing materials that meet the highest standards of sustainability. This move underscores our dedication to preserving natural resources and protecting biodiversity for future generations. Our FSC Promo License Number is FSC-N004378.

Embracing Environmentally Focused Suppliers

In addition to our partnership with FSC, we are taking concrete steps to work with other environmentally focused suppliers. By choosing partners who share our commitment to sustainability, we aim to minimize our environmental impact at every stage of our supply chain. This includes selecting materials that are recycled, recyclable, or sustainably sourced, ensuring that every product we create is a testament to our green principles.

Achieving Amazon Climate Friendly Badges

We are excited to share that many of our products will soon feature the Amazon Climate Friendly Badge. These badges signifies that our products meet Amazon's rigorous criteria for sustainability, including reduced carbon emissions, sustainable sourcing, and efficient production methods. By earning these badges, we offer our customers the assurance that choosing The Happy Start means supporting a company that prioritizes the health of our planet.

Eliminating Plastic Covers from Our Board Books

One of the most significant changes we are making is the removal of plastic coverings from our board book products, starting in the second half of 2024. This initiative will save over 1/2 pound of plastic, or more than 25 kilograms, for every 100 units ordered. This decision reflects our commitment to reducing plastic waste and promoting eco-friendly alternatives. By eliminating plastic covers, we are not only reducing our environmental impact but also setting a new standard for sustainability in the children's book industry.
